AKRON, Ohio – Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is hosting its annual Christmas events, Deck the Hall: Lights, Cameras, Christmas, in November and December.

Dates are as follows (the time each night is 5-8 p.m.): Nov. 26-28, Dec. 2, Dec. 9-23 and Dec. 26-30.

Events begin in the Carriage House courtyard with a large decorated Christmas tree and visits with Santa and Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer through a Plexiglas barrier.

The museum’s Manor House features 25 decorated Christmas trees and will offer classic holiday movies and family films in 21 rooms and spaces throughout the house. The house’s reception hall is decorated to look like a movie theatre, with ticket stubs, candy, popcorn and a red carpet in the Linenfold Hallway with walk-of-fame stars and film reels.

The music room will feature a “Nutcracker” display with costumes from the Cleveland Ballet. Decorations and displays are done by local decorators and artists, as well as the Akron Makerspace and local Lego group, Neolug.

More than 1 million lights will deck the gardens and grounds and a new light show will be held in the Great Garden. Attendees can see more lights at the estate’s Gingerbread Land and pose for a photo at the Corbin Conservatory’s poinsettia Christmas tree.

The courtyard will also feature animated show windows featuring a gingerbread bake shop and 1920s Akron.

Gingerbread Hut and the Salty Reindeer will be selling refreshments, including hot gingerbread.

Deck the Hall admission includes a self-guided walking tour of the Manor House and grounds, the Corbin Conservatory, light show and Gingerbread Land. The tour takes approximately one hour. Guests are asked to wear masks in all indoor spaces and dress for the weather.

Event tickets must be purchase in advance on the Stan Hywet website or by phone at 330-315-3287.

Monday-Thursday tickets are $18 for adults, $7 for youth (ages 6-17) and free for ages 5 and under. Friday-Sunday tickets are $22 for adults, $9 for youth and free for ages 5 and under.
